Meet Reno — an eye catching 2015 AQHA foundation bred Red Roan gelding who’s as flashy as he is dependable. Standing 15.2 hands tall and 10 years old, with that old style classic breeding- Reno is the total package: seasoned, safe, and seriously stunning.
Let’s kick things off with one of his most unforgettable moments: Reno opened for a sold out crowd of over 10,000 rodeo fans, stealing the show in a high-adrenaline stunt act where he and his rider galloped through the arena at a dead run, shooting balloons that exploded into flames and black smoke. Literal fireballs going off around him, the crowd roaring, chaos all around—and Reno stayed cool, confident, and completely locked in. He didn’t just handle it—he owned it. The video is a must see!
Reno turns heads everywhere he goes with that rich red roan coat, beautiful build and kind, intelligent eye. He’s big-boned, and built to last. But what really sets him apart is his mindset—good-minded, honest, and full of try. He wants to please and really connect with his rider.
He’s done it all—from overnight trail rides and swimming in the Buffalo River, to scaling steep, rocky trails, and even navigating downtown city traffic with ease. Sirens, honking horns, people and dogs—none of it bothers him. He’s also been used for moving and penning cattle, and is started on the head side roping! Mounted shooting would be a very suitable career for him as well.
On the ground, Reno is easy to catch, hauls like a pro, stands tied, bathes, and loads with no fuss. In the saddle, Reno is a dream—smooth, responsive, and rides beautifully off seat and leg cues. He catches both leads, side-passes, stops nicely, and can even be ridden bridle-less or with just a neck rope. He’s fun, athletic, and up for any challenge. We even pointed him at a jump just for fun—and he cleared it effortlessly on the first try. He’d make a lovely English or hunter jumper mount if that’s your direction.
If you’re looking for a gelding with real-world experience, plenty of talent, and a heart of gold, Reno is your guy. The options are limitless!!
