Bonnie is a six-year-old bay roan mare standing 16 to 16.1hh, and if you’re into drop-dead gorgeous with a side of “I got this,” she might just be your girl. She’s a Brabant/QH cross with a kind eye, a cool head, and the kind of presence that makes people stop and stare—even if she’s just standing there eating hay like a queen.
Bonnie is the definition of safe and sane. She doesn’t care if you ride her every day or once in a blue moon—she shows up the same: calm, steady, and totally unbothered. She’s got miles and miles of trail experience, from the Black Hills of Wyoming and South Dakota to Pennsylvania backroads, wooded trails, open fields, creeks, rivers, and even into town (yes, she’s been for coffee). She leads, she follows, she strolls, she climbs—she’s your do-it-all, take-it-easy kind of partner.
She’s seen just about everything: flapping tarps, barking dogs, farm animals, fire pits, mini bikes zooming past, and that one guy with the leaf blower—none of it phases her. She’s even taken baby horses under her wing like a wise older sister who’s seen it all and is only mildly impressed.
Bonnie also drives like a pro. Take her down the road past tractor trailers, and she won’t bat an eye. Loose rein, voice cues, no drama—just a steady, sensible ride. Under saddle, she’s smooth and easy with a lovely walk, trot, and canter. She’s mostly been ridden on a loose rein, but she’s happy to collect up and show off a little if you ask nicely. She’s packed beginners, done lunge line lessons, and made the baby giggle. We’re not saying she’s magical, but…
In the barn, Bonnie is a solid citizen. She stands like a statue for grooming, tacking, braiding, bathing—you could probably paint a mural on her if you had the time. She’s polite for the vet, farrier, and dentist, comes when called in the field, and fits in easily with the herd.
Bonnie is the real deal—sweet, sturdy, stunning, and safe enough to babysit your kids or your husband who “used to ride once.” She’s up to date on all the important stuff—vaccines, deworming, Coggins, and farrier. If we had room to keep her, she’d be staying. But someone out there is about to get really, really lucky.
