If you’ve been searching for a true Gaited Mule, you’ve found him! This is a once-in-a-lifetime Mule. Patron has the smoothest and most natural gait of any gaited equine I’ve ever ridden. (I’ve owned 7 breeds of Gaited Horses). There is no need for special shoes or a bit to get the gait-see the videos with “no hands”. Patron is a 15-hand deep Chestnut colored Registered John Mule bred and trained by Keith and Tammy Holley from Holley’s Walking Ears in Tennessee. He is out of their Gaited Jack and TWH mare. I’ve even included some of his baby pics. Keith is the President of the American Gaited Mule Association. They kept Patron for their own personal mule for the first 10 years of his life. They showed him and rode him in some rough terrain in Tennessee. After quite a bit of begging and $$, they finally agreed to sell him to me. So, I am only the second owner. Since we have had him, he’s been ridden by myself (about to age out of riding), my 21-year-old daughter, and our 13-year-old neighbor. You will even see some of our lesson kids on him and cleaning his hooves. We’ve ridden him from Hocking Hills, Ohio, SW Virginia (Jefferson National Forest), and NC to the Sandhills in SC. He is definitely a very experienced trail mule, as you can see from the videos. He tolerates just about anything we’ve thrown at him-jumping and standing on him, riding English, Western or Bareback, riding double, riding backwards, even riding him up from the pasture with absolutely nothing-no bridle, halter or saddle, laying on him in the pasture while he’s laying down, negotiating mud, creeks, steep banks, dragging brush, barrels, even wrapping him in Christmas paper. He will ride in the back, middle, or lead when trail riding. He will go out on his own. He has a nice canter. (Read More on Thehorsebay)
